Legal Question in Tax Law in New Jersey
I have not paid state income taxes in NJ. Is there a statute of limitations on this being due for past years?
In the past 3 years, I have not worked and my only income was social security.

The Statute of Limitations NEVER starts to run until you file a tax return. Even if your income is below the amount required for filing in a given year, you should ALWAYS file your Federal and State Tax Return. The Statute of limitations on audits is 3 years from the date of filing or the due date, whichever is later.
If you do not know how to file, I suggest you go to an H&R Block. They have a program that is very inexpensive for 1040EZ returns,
I hope this helps!
