Legal Question in Tax Law in New Jersey
Hello. I have a registered a vehicle as a gift from my father-in-law in NJ and did not pay sales taxes. I have just received a notice of inquiry regarding this vehicle. If I respond to the affidavit stating that I bought the vehicle from my father-in-law will that resolve the inquiry?

THIS SHOULD HAVE INCLUDED A FORM WHERE THE DONOR OF THE GIFT SIGNS AN AFFIDAVIT PORTION INDICATING THE TRANSFER OF THE CAR WAS A GIFT. THE FORM SHOULD ALSO INDICATE THE VALUE OF THE GIFT. THE FORM ALSO REQUIRES THE BUYER'S INFORMATION. IF YOU HAVE THE COMPLET FORM, JUST FILL IT OUT AND SEE THE PROPER REQUIRED SIGNATURES AND DATES ARE INCLUDED.
