residency

for tax purposes, I lived in Nj for Jan. if I move to Florida in Feb. am I liable for any NJ income taxes on capital gains for the year

PROBABLY NOT. YOU ARE ONLY RESPONSIBLE FOR TAXES ON INCOME ATTRIBUTABLE TO NJ SOURCES, DURING THE TIME YOU LIVED THERE OR CONTINUE TO RECEIVE THEM FROM NJ(LIKE IF YOU LIVED OUTSIDE NJ BUT WORKED THERE ALL YEAR).
