Legal Question in Tax Law in New Jersey
I won the jackpot a few months ago and have been siting on it because I am planning my moves strategically. I live in NJ and a law was recently passed that winners can remain anonymous for 1 year.... I would like to remain anonymous FOREVER. I wanted to claim my winnings using an LLC but wanted to know the steps. Who signs the lottery ticker? If I sign it and also list my LLC, wouldn't that reveal my identity? Will the check be in my LLC's name? If so, How do I transfer all the funds into my personal account? If I decide to claim it using a Trust, who do I list since I will not tell anyone ..including family members?

Congratulations!
I completely understand your need for privacy. Generally speaking, whether an LLC can claim the prize depends on the lottery rules. Each lottery has different rules. I can review the rules for the particular lottery and assist you in setting up the LLC, if that is an option, or otherwise strategize on how to help you maintain your anonymity to the extent possible. If retained, my representation would be absolutely confidential and subject to attorney-client privilege.
