Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey
2C:29-1a
What is the typical fine/sentence for this charge? It is an obstructing administration of law charge given by a transit cop in New Jersey. I have no record or priors.

Depending upon the circumstances of your arrest, you could be facing up to six months in the County Jail. Each case is unique, so until I saw the evidence in your case I could not give you a more definite answer than this. I am an attorney who has handled many cases similar to yours in various courts throughout New Jersey in the past. Please contact me to discuss your case in more detail. I never charge for simply talking to a person about their case. Thank you.

The potential penalty for an obstruction charge depends on what the officer claims you were obstructing. The maximum penalty could be jail for 6 - 18 months, depending on the facts. You should discuss it with a lawyer. Call me if you would like to discuss it further at 877*688*3879.
