Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

39:4-127.1 Improper crossing of railroad grade crossing

I stopped at a rail road crossing, the gates were obviously broken, and i was faced with the decision of either backing out of the turn area i was in, or traveling around the gates, there was no train in site, and there was no audible signal, so i decided to drive around the gate, at which point a police officer pulled out from behind a tree and pulled me over. The Officer told me that the gates were broken. So far I know that is a 2 point ticket but i do not know the fine. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Just go to court and speak the prosecutor to work something out.
