Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

I have 2 warrants (from the same incident) since June 2008 in NJ, one for driving while on a suspended license, one for no insurance. The reason my license was suspended was because I was late on my insurance payments, thus cancelled insurance=cancelled license. This is my 2nd offense to driving while suspended; the first one being from a year prior due to a ticket nonpayment. I have delayed taking care of this because I was on a trip when I was pulled over, and the court house is a few hours drive from my home.

I'm okay with having my license taken away indefinitely; I just need to get a clean record/pay fines and hopefully no jail time. I'm not sure how to approach this situation, any advice would be appreciated. Although it's a tired excuse, the truth is that I was an irresponsible teenager who couldn't keep track of payments.

The bad news:

The ticket for driving without insurance carries a mandatory suspension of 1 year if you are convicted, along with high fines, community service and MVC surcharges. The charge for driving while suspended for not having insurance carries a fine of $1,000, MVC surcharges of $750, a suspension of an additional 1 to 2 1/2 years, and up to 90 days in jail.

The good news:

I handle a lot of cases with issues similar to these, and based on my experience, I can tell you that it may be possible to have the charges lowered or even dismissed. You really need to discuss this with an attorney. Call me if you would like to discuss it further at 877*688*3879.

Ouch. you are looking at some pretty heavy fines and JAIL TIME.

You need a lawyer. You can see from all the lawyers who have answered you that this is something that lawyers handle all the time. These are not just a couple of tickets.

Give me a call. I have been doing a fair amount of 'driving while suspended' cases. You want to cut down the penalties as much as possible. You MIGHT even be able to beat the charges.

The telephone discussion will be free of charge, and I will let you know what I believe I can do to assist you further. My contact information can be obtained from the links below, just click on the Attorney Profile link. Let my secretary know you found me through LawGuru.
