Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey
Amending Carelss Driver Ticket
I received a summons for ''Careless Drving''. The cop says ''I cut her off''. She was in a marked car on a 3 lane road. The first lane had parked cars but because of incomplete snow removal they were not parked close to the curb, and were slightly blocking the second lane. I was in the second lane and had to swerve slightly to avoid the cars, I was not that close to the police car. I think she gave me the ticket because I did not pay her vehicle the ''props'' that they get on the road.
I have an absolutely clean driving record, no tickets in 20 years. Will the prosecutor amend this ticket to a no points / no surcharge violation?
Thank you

Re: Amending Carelss Driver Ticket
Based on your clean driving history, when you go to court on this ticket you should ask the prosecutor if he will amend this two point careless driving ticket to a 0 point unsafe driving ticket. If he will not agree to do so, then you should hire a lawyer, such as myself, who goes to municipal court on a regular basis and who has a little more influence than you would to get this ticket changed to an unsafe driving ticket. If you decide to hire an attorney please give me a call at 908-272-0111 to discuss your case further. There is never any charge for simply discussing a case with me. Thank you.

I would think that he or she would considering your version of what happened and your good driving record. It may help to have an attorney, though.
