Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

auto accident

my daughter was involved in an auto accident -pulling out of a parking space - another vehicle pulled out at the same time and the vehicles collided - my vehicle damage is driver side rear bumper and other vehicle driver side front door. who's at fault? no police report filed - what are the consequences of not filing a report? no report because the girls are friends - will any tickets be issued to either driver since the accident wasn't reported?

Re: auto accident

There are some options, but generally you should report the damage to your respective insurance companies. Give our offices a call, because it depends what your respective coverage is.

Re: auto accident

Not reporting an accident where there is more than $500 in damage COULD result in a ticket being issued under NJSA 39:4-130. This ticket has a fine between $30 and $100. Of course, you need someone to alert the police to the fact that this was not reported in the first place.

If no one reported it, who will ever know about it?
