Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

i was in a car accident. i was driving on a main street. Its a four way street coming off of the parkway. i made a left turn while my light was green and all other traffic was at a stop. As i was making the turn, a pickup truck came through his now green light and smashed into the passenger side of my car. my car is totaled and when the officer came to the accident and issued me a ticket for careless driving. the other car had 4 flat tires and a gash in his driver side door. i was the only one who received a ticket. he did not honk, slow down or attempt to avoid me. he was taken to the hospital along with his girlfriend. he said he hit his head on the steering wheel and his girlfriend hit her arm on the door. i was also taken in the ambulance because i hit my head as well on the steering wheel. after the collision i couldnt open the driver side door of my car. the driver of the other car jumped out of his car yelling at me for my insurance card. he visibly and his girl friend had no seen injuries. my court date is in a month and any advise would be helpful.
