Car Accident with MA insurance having a NJ registration and license

I moved from MA and changed my registration and license. Since I'm planning to sell my car, I did not change my insurance. Then I had a car accident with a taxi driver right off the highway. I was breaking for traffic light when the taxi from the opposite direction hit me paralelly. I called police and waited for one hour but police never came for one hour. Eventually he agreed to pay for my damage and in order to protect myself, I wrote a contact and we both signed. I wrote down his driver's license and plate information and we agreed to go to Body Shop Together. He kept telling me his son had surgery and he can not leave the house, and asked me to pay for the damage first. He will repay me afterwards. Today is the 8th day of the accident. What is going to happen?

I am assuming you do not have collision on your car, if you do you should put the claim thru them and let the carrier worry about getting reimbursed from the taxi's carrier. New Jersey is a no fault insurance state. You should not have to worry about making private contracts for payment with people who collided with you. COntact your insurance company today and tell them what happened, even if they are not a New Jersey based insurer. If you got hurt in the accident, then you should go to a doctor, after first checking with your insurance company about any procedures they require yo to follow.
