Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey
Contrary Statements
im in center lane going stright a person in the right lane tries to pass me we collide i get to the next right hand turn and turn the guy does the same i call the police. he gets out of his car he gives me this story he didn't know the right lane ended. the police come the cop asks me what happened i tell him this guy tried to merge and struck me. now he says,''i disagree with that i was in the single lane the merge was over he tried to pass me and i had to chase him down.the cop gives no tickets.the accident description says: both drivers give contrary statements vehicles moved prior to my arrival. driver 1 (me)states he was driving east in center lane. he states driver 2 was in right lane and tried to merge striking his vehicle. driver 2 states he had merged into single lane when he states driver 1 was straddling oncoming traffic when it struck him.
should i give him a ticket? if so what for? how long till i have? people tell me he will try to give me one if i don't give him one i will look guilty.
