Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey
A couple of months ago I had a minor accident when a girl in front of me had stopped at a yeild sign than started to go and slammed on her brakes. I was charged with no insurance because I did not have my card on me. I went to court and showed my insurance crad and they dismissed the "no insurance' charge. I recieved a fine because I had gotten a careless driving ticket sent in the mail from the officer who responded to the accident. The careless driving was down-graded to a fine and the no insurance was dropped. Now a month later I recieved a letter stating I was being charged with no insurance for this same accident. Now my question is "isn't this considered double-jeopardy"? For what reason can they charge me with this charge again?
