Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

Disobey Steady Red in NYC

I received a ticket (in Jan 2009) for disobeying a Steay Red light in NYC. I've a NJ driving license. How many points does this ticket have and are those points carry forwarded to my NJ driving record. I had previously received a ticket in NY in Oct 2006. Is this worth contesting ?

I am not sure of the chances of winning in NYC; but yes you can get points in NJ from an out-of-state ticket. It used to also be limited for insurance rating purposes to two points; however, it was changed in NJ to allow them to give you insurance points that could put you into the state insurance (assigned risk at very high rates) if you get nine points last time I checked.
