Disobeyy traffic control device offense for speeding

Yesterday I was driving on the I-80 (Pennsylvania) from NJ when I was pulled over by a State Trooper for speeding. I was going 82 in a 55 mph zone.A lot of traffic was moving at this speed.

I handed the officer my license and registration and apologized.

The officer gave me disobeying traffic control device saying the radr picked me up and this is minimum he can give with 108$ in fine.

The ticket doesn't say I was speeding and officeer toled me PA has no points for this offense. he wasn;'t sure of NJ though.

So my questions are. Why did I not recieve a speeding ticket, why does it say disobeyed traffic control device when there are none on the throughway.

Should I plea not guilty? Please help!. I do not want points from NJ.

He cut you a big break. Go to court and speak with the prosecutor. Don't be a jerk to him and just see what he says. He'll probably give you a lower fine than even this one if he can.

The trooper thought he was doing you a favor by giving you this ticket because the speeding ticket for 82 in a 55 is a four point ticket and disobeying a traffic control device is a two point ticket in NJ. If you just pay the ticket the fine is relatively low but you would get two points in NJ. If you don't want this then plead not guilty and when you get a new court date talk to the prosecutor about reducing the points. The fine will likely be much higher on a zero point ticket, though.
