Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey
Driving License?!?
I wass born in NJ and received a NJ DL. I moved to VT, received a VT DL and have been living there for eight years. While on a trip back to NJ I found out my NJ DL was suspended and i was ticketed for suspended license in NJ. The court said I was driving on my NJ DL not my VT DL while in NJ, since I was born here. But my question is- If My VT DL is now suspended and my NJ DL is valid, can I drive legally in NJ??

Re: Driving License?!?
I see no relevance between the place of one's birth and the validity of one's driver's license (d/l). If one's NJ driving privileges are suspended/revoked regardless of where one was born, one cannot operate here even with a valid foreign state's d/l. If NJ does not suspend your reciprocity privileges for an out-of-state loss of license and your NJ operator's privleges are in good standing, you would be permitted to drive here. One should visit their regional NJMVC office to determine one's standing to drive in NJ. This opinion is not an authorization to drive here and is not intended as a substitute for a legal consult with an NJ lawyer that can analyze facts that may be missing or misinterpreted. PLease see a lawyer.

Ideally you will want both the VT and the NJ d/ls to be in good standing. But you may be able to drive in NJ with the valid NJ d/l.
