Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

Emergency Vehicle

I need the New Jersey laws in regards to the rights of Emergency Vehicles. It states in the New Jersey Driver Manual that

''New Jersey law requires all motorists to yield to emergency vehicles

sounding sirens or flashing red and/or blue emergency lights.

Steer to the extreme right of the roadway and stop. Wait for the

emergency vehicle to pass. Afterward, keep at least 300 feet behind

an emergency vehicle responding to an emergency call.

Police cars, fire trucks and ambulances have sirens and red and/

or blue emergency lights. Private vehicles operated by volunteer

fire and rescue squad members (with emergency vehicle identification) responding to an emergency call use blue lights.''

Does this mean that a volunteer responding to an emergency with a blue emergency light is considered an emergency vehicle?

What additional rights to Emergency Vehicles get? (I.E. Speeding, Dis-obeying signs etc)

Re: Emergency Vehicle

Yes, the volunteer vehicle with the blue light responding to an emergency is to be treated just as if it was a regular emergency vehicle, and you must yield to it.See NJSA 39:3-54.12. Thank you.
