Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey
Extremely high speeding ticket
I was driving in New Jersey and was allegedly clocked by laser moving at 99 mph in a 65. I am 100% sure that I was going between 65 and 70 at the time and although the officer wrote down that he clocked me from 991 feet away, I'm almost positive that I was closer to 2000 feet and that he accidentally got the car next to me. I have a poor driving record but am extremely frustrated because it looks like my license will be suspended for something I definitely didn't do. How much can a lawyer do in a situation like this? Is there a chance of convincing the judge that there must have been an error of some sort. I know that a mid 90s NJ Superior court ruling disallows laser reading results from over 1000 feet away. I think the officer may have fudged his numbers to get under 1000...but of course there's no way to prove that.

Re: Extremely high speeding ticket
Regardless of the amount of points you have, you are looking at having your DL suspended based on the speed alone. There is a lot a lawyer can do and frankly, you don't have many options at this point but to fight the ticket.
