Re: failure to maintain lane

I am certain that I could assist you in avoiding the points, given your good driving record up to this time. I will charge you a reasonable fee.

Call me if you like.

Re: failure to maintain lane

Yes, if you plead guilty or are found guilty of 39:4-88a the Division of Motor Vehicles will assess two points to your driving record.

If points are a major concern (which shouldn't be for you since this is your first ticket) you could possibly negotiate a no-point ticket with the prosecutor for 39:97.2 "Unsafe Operation" of a motor vehicle. However, this ticket will cost you between $50 - $150 (typically courts charge $150) plus court cost plus a mandatory $250 State surcharge.

As such, you are probably better off simply paying the ticket as after a year of driving without any moving violations, the two points will deducted from your DMV point total anyway.

You could probably work out a no point ticket without an attorney. You should try it and then get an attorney if you fail.
