When you decide on a lawyer the lawyer will contact the court for you to get an adjournment of the court date. I am an attorney who has handled very many traffic court cases throughout New Jersey in the past. Please contact me to discuss your case in more detail. You have not said what kind of case this is, nor have you asked for any particular legal advice.

If the court case is important, please go hire an attorney to assist you. The attorney will let the Court know that the attorney is helping you.

I suggest you retain a lawyer and then let him or her contact the court. If you go there without one, they could get upset. I'm sure there are plenty of attorneys that would be happy to handle this on short notice. Feel free to call me at 732/247/3340 if you want to discuss the case.

You should hire an attorney who will ask for more time to prepare to represent you.

Sure. But, you will get less skepticism from the court if you hire a lawyer before the court date. The lawyer will appear and request additional time if needed. Otherwise, this may be viewed simply as a delaying tactic.
