Missing insurance card

I was recently stopped by police and I didn't have my newest insurance card. My insurance is up to date but I forgot to put the new card in my glove box. The police officer verified my insurance using my expired card but gave me a ticket for not having the new one. This ticket requires a court appearance. I called the court and they told me I have to decide whether to plead guilty or not. Is there any benefit to pleading ''not guilty'' in this case? Would I save a lot of trouble by just pleading guilty and paying the fine?

When you go to court, speak to the prosecutor. He will work something out with you. You may just have to pay court costs. At the worst, you'll just have to pay the ticket. All together, it should be under $150. This is nothing you need an attorney for.

However, make sure that he gave you a ticket for not having your card as opposed to not having insurance.
