Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

I have a motor vehicle issue which I settled with suspension for 180 days, I just got a letter for the incident for surcharges of 7k , I though the surchages could only apply to those charges you were convicted on

I am not really clear who you settled with and if you actually mean that you negotiated some kind of plea that resulted in a 6 month loss of your driving privleges. If you agreed to plead guilty to a number of summonses that resulted in a six month suspension that would qualify as a conviction. However, if you worked out an arrangement with a Motor Vehicle Commission Hearing Officer to a reduce a potential administrative suspension that is another issue. I cannot really answer your question because i am not clear what type of sitiation you are referring to, perhaps if you clarify the question someone could provide you with a better response
