Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

Newark, New Jersey officer wrote wrong info on the ticket

I was in Newark, NJ and given a ticket by the police officer for making a left turn. There was a sign stating ''no turns''. However, I did not make a turn. Instead, I was legally moving straight through the intersection on a green light.

The officer was staked out on foot hidden behind a fence about 200 feet from the intersection. He flagged me down using hand gestures. This is a very busy intersection and I know he did not have a clear view. When he approached me, I asked him what was wrong and if I was going to get a ticket. He said ''It depends''. I asked ''On what''. He didnt say anything more and I soon found myself with a ticket in hand.

I examined the ticket and it contained what seemed like several errors. The errors included the following:

1) The drivers license appeared to contain two ''Z''s and my drivers license contains two ''2''s.

2) The plate appears to have two ''5''s where my plate really has two ''S''s.

3) He wrote down the wrong municipal code on the summons.

4) My zip code was incorrect.

5) The color of my eyes were listed as brown, when my eyes are not brown.

6) Some other information was illegibly written like the date.

How can I defend myself against this in the nwk municipal court?

Re: Newark, New Jersey officer wrote wrong info on the ticket

Well, you can go to Newark Municipal and make all six of your arguments to the judge: that the Z looks like a 2 and the 5 looks like an S. Then, pay the ticket and go back to work.
