Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey
nj 39:4-97
My mother was in an accident and issued a ticket for careless driving (nj 39:4-97). She went to court to plead guilty and pay her ine, and the judge said she could not as other people were injured. My question is what does that matter regarding the careless driving ticket she was in court for?

Yes, the Victims Rights Act must be complied with such that the victims must be properly notified by the court. Also, the Judge's discretion in connection with sentencing may be affected by numerous things such as the victim's injuries. Feel free to contact my office to discuss in more detail.

When someone is injured the injured person has as right to be present in court when whatever happens with the case happens. You might benefit from the services of an attorney.
