Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey
NJ parking lot accident - witness report./statement
Being a passanger in a fender bender in a parking lot, should I be filing any sort of statement? Is there a time limit. The policeman we called to the scene, seemed to believe this was our driver's fault because he had a witness who was making a report. No one indicated anyone in our car should be making a report?

You should absolutely file a statement with the police. You should also consult with an attorney right away, because you have certain rights UNIQUE to you as a passenger that the driver may not have. No fee for consultation. Feel free to call my direct line below.

You should contact your own insurance company and report that you were involved in an accident. They may want to give you a medical examination. Other than that, as a passenger, you don't need to file a separate police report.
