Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

Off-street parking on narrow dead end street

According to what I have read Title 39:4-136 it is illegal to leave a parked vehicle on a roadway if that vehicle does not leave a clear andr unobstructed width of not les than fifteen feet upon the roadway opposite the standing vehicle for free passage of other vehicles. If this is true than why can't the police help me with my problem. I live on a dead end street that is extremely narrow and my neighbor and their friends continually park on the side of the road obstructing my passage to my driveway entrance at the end of this dead end street. What do I have to do to have this statute enforced so that I can accesss my driveway?

did u try to call a truck towing company? they will just tow them away until they stop doing it. Or you can report them to the parking authority!

You can file your own charges. Just go down to the station.

You can have an attorney write a letter to the police chief on your behalf. An attorney's letter has a bit

more "weight" to it because there is the hint that legal action may be taken.

Call me if you like.
