Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey
plea bargain ''unsafe driving'' for 3rd time
I got a ticket in bergen county, nj. for going the wrong way on route 4 and violating my provisional license for driving after midnight. It was very dark, and raining really hard. I was not from the area, first time there. I made the left thinking the divider was the sidewalk. I noticed right away I made a mistake but by the time I went on the right side I was being pulled over.
Anyway. I did a plea bargain for the 3rd time and it was a total of $680 with no points. I have already paid this. When I was asked if I had already plead guilty to the charge before I thought they were talking about the specific ''moving against traffic'' charge.
Now I found out I have 4 points on my license, the original ticket being only 2 and only $85(vs 4 points and $680 i have paid). I went back to talk to the prosecuter. He said he can't do anything because I accepted the deal and will not refund my money or let me go before the judge again. Then he refused to answer anymore questions and told me to get a lawyer if i wanted to.
Advice will be greatly appreciated.

You still do not seem to understand that when everything is on the line in
court you MUST hire an attorney. Hire and attorney.

Not to take the State's side, but it is your responsibility to know your driving history before you accept a plea. Some court's are more likely than others to permit the plea to be set aside and a new plea entered. If you are to have any chance, IMHO, you should consult with and if appropriate, retain an experienced local municipal court practitioner. Good luck!

As the other attorneys said, this is what happens when you don't get an attorney. There is a reason why people pay us good money to help them. I strongly suggest you see one now. It will be a lot more expensive than it would have been if you hired one in the first place.
