Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey
I was pulled over by a cop for, in his own words "to warn me about GPS on the wind shield" but then he said records showed that my license was suspended and he impounded my car and gave me a ticket for driving with a suspended license.
I did not receive any notice nor can I think of a reason for the suspension.
I received my first moving violation ticket little over a month ago which I wanted to challenge but paid off because I was supposed to be out of the country on the court date.
Don't know if it is related but how can I find out what the reason for suspension was? Can they do it without any written notice?

Can they, they did. Is that legal, of course not. Regardless, I strongly suggest you hire an attorney to work all of this out for you. Call us anytime at 732/773/2768.
The police are allowed to run your license plate to see if there are any outstanding warrants against the owner of the car or if your license is suspended, so it was a legal stop if that is why you were pulled over. However, dealing with the issue of your ticket fro Driving While Suspended, this is a serious offense. There are ways to amend and minimize the charge so I would not just pay the ticket. Please contact me to discuss your case in more detail. I never charge for simply talking to a person about their case. Thank you.

lack of Notice is a defense to Driving while suspended, even if the stop was legal not knowing could work as a defense depending on why you did not know. If you never opened your mail for example, but you did receive a letter from the Motor Vehicle Commission, this would not be a defense, but if you received the notice after you were stopped, then this would work to your benefit. it often depends on the facts. Why you were suspended is of key importance. I have handled many driving while suspended tickets and would be happy to assist you. My firm is exceptionally experienced in this area and our fees are reasonable. Please feel free to contact me to discuss (201)-894-9498 or (973)-723-8995. The summons can be serious so you should consult an attorney. All the best. J Mincis
