Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey
Question about Suspended Licenses
I was given two tickets for not having my licence with me and for it being expired. Today I got a certified letter with a ticket for a suspended license. Can a ticket be sent through the mail? Is there another way to serve jail time for this ticket other than going to jail? I will loose my job if I can't report to work.
Thank you

You have some options. You will be bombarded with advertizements for attorneys who want to help you. I do think that you need a lawyer, if you are at risk for losing your job.
Can a ticket be mailed to you? Yes, if it is done properly, and within the required time limits. I can not tell whether this was properly done or not.
If I can help you, let me know. If you would like, give me a call to set up an appointment; I am in northern New Jersey. The consultation may be free, speak to me and I will let you know ahead of time. I will do what I can to help you out.

Re: Question about Suspended Licenses
Yes, a ticket can be sent to you through the mail. As to jail time alternatives, different courts have different policies about this. However, unless this would be a second or third conviction for Driving While Suspended, there is no jail time associated with that ticket. And besides, there are various ways to try and beat the ticket completely. I am an attorney who has handled many cases similar to yours in various courts in NJ in the past. I would like to discuss your case in more detail. Please call me at your convenience. I never charge for simply talking to a person about their case. Thank you.
