Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey
No registration
In December 01, I was pulled over for driving the wrong way on a one way street and my registration was expired. My car was impounded. I have been trying since June 01 to get my Tennessee registration transferred to NJ, to no avail. I have ran into multiple probablem at the DMV. They told me I needed a NJ title in order to register my vehicle. The lein holder refused to change the title of the vehicle from a Kentucky title to a NJ one. I was trying to pay the car off so I could have a clear title, in order to register the vehicle. I was then activated in the NJ National Guard and unable to do this until now. Is there anything I can do?

Re: No registration
Your question is confusing. Is this a KY or TN title? In any case, you need to get a lawyer in the state where the car is titled and force the lien holder to sign the title over to you. Then you will be able to take that title to NJ and get the car retitled. Keep in mind that this advice is based purely on the little bit of information that you have given to me. There certainly may be other factors that would change my opinion. Further, no one can rely on advice from an attorney who has not been retained. Since it appears that you have not retained an attorney, before you take any further action, you should contact an attorney (either me or someone else) to discuss your matter in more detail. Only then will you be able to rely on the advice. I will be happy to assist you. However, you need to call me at 856-546-8010. Good luck! Rob
