Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey
school bus ticket
I got a ticket for improperly passing a school bus. I got the ticket in New Jersey and I have a New Jersey drivers license. However, my car is registered in Pennsylvania. I realize I will get the five points on my license, but will my insurance company not be notified since my car isnt registered in NJ?

Re: school bus ticket
Insurance is based on the driver's license of the
owner of the car and/or other persons who will use the car. You should hire an attorney to work to avoid the five points.

Re: school bus ticket
Since everything is computerized these days and there are interstate motor vehicle commission agreements between the states, you should assume that your insurance company will find out. Regarding the ticket itself, I was just in court on the same type of ticket for my client last night and was able to get a very large reduction in the number of points. I could likely do the same in our situation. Please contact me to discuss your case in more detail. I never charge for simply talking to a person about their case. Thank you.

Re: school bus ticket
Generally insurance companies ask each state for ticket info, and they share info like that, so you have to assume they will, though from time to time they may not. Years ago, I received a ticket in Mississippi... 7 years later, NJ found out and gave me 2 points for a ticket just over 7 years old! ANYTHING that benefits the insurance companies, you must first assume they will find out, and act accordingly.
