Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

Seventeen year old Driver

My daughter - 17- lets her 16 year old unlicensed driver drive her car in a parking lot. The girl hit a concrete post. My daughter got scared ad left the scene. We went to the police later. The policeman gave my daughter a ticket for too many people in the car. Do we need a lawyer for her court appearance?

Re: Seventeen year old Driver

Your daughter needs to have an attorney with her because there is a traffic offense which she committed for which she was not charged, allowing an unlicensed driver to operate your vehicle. The penalty is the loss of driving privileges, temporarily. If this uncharged offense comes out she must be prepared. Additionally, I am surprised she was not charged with leaving the scene of an accident which has a penalty of six months loss of license. She may yet be charged.

There is a chance she may be able to handle this without an attorney. I would really need more information. I would want her to be protected, but you shouldn't have to spend money on something that isn't really needed.

My initial consultations are always free, so call me at 732/247/3340 to discuss her case in more detail.
