Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

speeding ticket errors

got a ticket for speeding while passing (2 lane rd, officer in oncoming lane said I was too close to him) no type of radar box checked, court date of next year vs this year, location of offense wrong and 69-55 is 14 over, he checked box for 15+ over - any defense? I am out of state, last question, does a plea by mail ever work?

Re: speeding ticket errors

The errors written on the ticket for the date and location, as well as the radar box not being checked, are not cause for dismissing the ticket. I would need to see what exactly what was written and checked off on the ticket since 14 mph over the speed limit is 2 points and 15 mph over the speed limit is a 4 point ticket. If you want to try and reduce the number of points you can either come up from Texas and appear in court yourself or you can hire a lawyer in New Jersey who can handle your case by affidavit without your having to appear at all. I am an attorney who has handled many cases similar to yours in vairous courts in New Jersey in the past. Please contact me to discuss your case in more detail. I never charge for simoly talking to a peraon about their case. Thank you.

Re: speeding ticket errors

ministerial mistakes can be corrected. so the officer's failure to check the radar box, or put down the wrong court date is not a defense. The fact that he checked the 15+ box may be problematic for you if you pay the ticket and the court charges you more because they have recorded your speed as 15 over. It may also affect action taken against you by the Texas Department of Transportation. Call me. I'll tell how to avoid problems
