If you are concerned enough to wonder whether you need a lawyer then the problem is one that could cause you substantial problems if things go against you. Where there is valuable right or thing to be protected a lawyer's assistance is a necessity.

Well, the municipal court judge does indeed have the power to take away your license for 30 days if the judge decides your conduct was bad enough to deserve that. in my home town, the judge suspends for 30 days if you do 50 mph in town. no buts, no question. i have no idea what the judge in the town where you got your ticket will do.

Re: speeding ticket with a provisional lisence
In my opinion, you are always better off with a lawyer. I've had good look at dealing with tickets with people who have a provisional DL. If you give me your number I can give you a call or you can call me at 732/247/3340. I practice in the Jersey City area, so I'd be more than happy to help you.
Re: speeding ticket with a provisional lisence
Since you have a provisional license, any points can result in a suspension of your license for a period of 30 days or more. However, if you go with a lawyer on your case there is a possibility that these four points cna be reduced down to a zero point ticket. If you go on your own, the prosecutor could at best offer you a reduction to a 2 point speeding ticket. I am an attorney who has handled many cases similar to yours in various courts in New Jersey in the past. I would like to discuss your case with you in more detail. Please contact me at your convenience. There is never any charge for simply talking to me about a case. Thank you.
