Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey
speeding violation
I got a ticket for going 71mph in a 40
mph zone. I already have 2 points for
speeding, and this summons indicated
mandatory court appearance. I went to
court yesterday, plead guilty, and paid
the fine. I was not given a chance to
speak with the prosecutor and the
police officer in order to bring down the
charges a little - so i think it will be
another 4- 5 points- was told that i
have to check w/ DMV. What should i
do ? can i appeal ?

Re: speeding violation
it seems that you did yourself a good deal of harm. why? what were you thinking?
you may have some results, maybe, if you hire and pay a good experienced defense attorney. be prepared to pay this attorney for the very much greater work he/she will have to do to TRY to undo the error you made.
I am sorry, but I would not be able to help you. Depending on what town this is in, I might be able to recommend an attorney to you.
Re: speeding violation
Yes, you can appeal, but you must act very quickly, i.e. you need to have an attorney on board by next Friday, the latest in my opinion.
I handle municipal appeals, so if you'd like to discuss the case with me, you can call me at 732/247/3340. My initial consultations are always free.
I practice all across NJ and most of this will be paperwork anyway, so it really doesn't matter, in my opinion, where the case was heard.
