Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

Do state laws always supercede township laws?

In my state, it is legal to drive without a parent at the age of 17, however, my township says that the curfew for minors that are unaccompanied by parents/guardians is 9:30. Can I still drive after 9:30? I realize that I'm not allowed to be walking around, but if I am in the confines of a car, it's legal, right? I mean, the state law says I can be driving, but I really would not like to risk that $200 fine...

Sounds like you have a good consitutional argument here. However, it would cost a lot more than the $200 fine to fight it.
