Re: suspended driver

You should hire an attorney immediately to explore whether there are any defenses available to you and whether there are available alternatives to a jail sentence.

Re: suspended driver

The penalties are pretty clear cut. A third time offender is looking at jail time. A lawyer may be able to help by reviewing the discovery and determining if there are any valid defenses. You are welcome to call my office for a free consulation. 201-646-9600 Savy Grant

Re: suspended driver

I agree with Gary's reply. Also, depending on the town, there is always the possibility of a downgrade to driving with an expired license. An attorney is the only one able to get such a downgrade. Also, the reason you were suspended this time, and for your other offenses will be critical to your attorney, and the rest of your driving record important. In other words, someone who is administratively irresponsible is not likely to be treated as harshly as someone who is also a persistent points violator.

Feel free to e-mail me with more information, or call to discuss your case.

A good offense is the best defense. You should immediately consult with an attorney. Before doing so, go to motor vehicles and get a copy of your driver's abstract so your attorney can review it with you. The state must prove you guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. On occasion, the state will not be able to establish their case and may with the investment of some time on your part and your attorney's reduce the charge to one that does not carry loss of license.

The best advise I can give you is to retain a good municipal court attorney.
