Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey
Suspended license
I received a notice from NJ Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC) today that my license has be suspended and that I can not drive. I called MVC and they told me to call the shore community who requested my license be suspended. The shore community said they sent me 3 notices regarding a parking ticket and that I had not responded to them. The reason for the notices, they say I was illegally parked in their community on July 4, 2008.
1) I did not receive any of their notices and
2) I live about 50 miles from this shore community and I was not anywhere near there on July 4th. I have a restaurant charge receipt as well as a movie ticket stub for where I was on the 4th. How can I go about proving that I was not there?

Re: Suspended license
If the parking tickets have a time as well as dates then you can prove they are not yours by
taking the ticket stubs and whatever you have to the court.
You should call the court and advised that you will come to the very next court session to demonstrate that you are willing to appear as required and asking that the suspension be reversed and that a court date be scheduled.

Mr. Moore did a good job with his answer. You don't need a lawyer for a parking ticket, but you have to be careful with your DL here. Keep up on this and call a lawyer if they give you problems.
