i was given a ticket for failure to exhibit insurance card.
I don't have insurance.
The ticket was not marked court appearance required.

not having insurance gets you put in jail, license suspended, lots of very bad things.

You got charged with a much smaller offense than you could have been. If the ticket is really for Failure To Display the insurance card then there is a monetary fine but no motor vehicle points or loss of license. You have to decide what you want to do, to either just pay it or go to court on this.

You should just pay the ticket if they will allow you to, but you should get insurance on your car immediately because you are really looking for trouble if you keep driving your car (knowing) that your car is not properly insured, The penalties are quite severe so rectify it asap.
