Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey
Township jurisdictional question
A police officer was heading south on a highway; my vehicle was heading east. I proceeded on my way and several blocks later, in a different town from which the cop represented, I was pulled over and given a no seatbelt ticket. Isn't there a jurisdictional problem with this ? The officer did not follow me but rather went a different rout and caught up to me in another town before pulling me over.

Re: Township jurisdictional question
The police are allowed to follow you into a different town and give you a ticket if they saw you in their town and were unable to catch up with you before you entered the next town. Sorry - I know this is not the answer you wanted to hear.
