Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

Traffic Discovery

I have a case pending in NJ traffic court- disregarding and officer directing traffic. I sent via certified mail discovery requests to the police dept, cc judge and prosec. Police called and said will not honor request- must write a letter to corp counsel- What to do?

They do not seem to want to provide discovery to pro se litigants--that means you are representing yourself--I am unclear about the corp counsel aspect. Usually disregarding officer signal carries no points but you have not provided information as to the statute number. Was it NJSA 39:4-215?

I understand you feel wronged, but where are you going here? First, I doubt there was any discovery here. Most simple tickets have no reports. Taking this to trial without an attorney may likely be a waste of time and money for you. I suggest you consult with an attorney before doing anything.

Usually, I direct any discovery request to the municipal court prosecutor. The request that you contact thetown attorney makes me think that your discovery request goes beyond the usual discovery.

Re: Traffic Discovery

They're not going to honor your discovery demands, whatever they are. And they must be pretty extreme if you are being directed to corporate counsel. What discovery are you looking for? Police report? you should be able to get that. But the real question is, is this fight really worth your time?
