Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

Traffic Law

I noticed a police car following me for 2 to 3 min. I looked at my speedometer; it read 33 MPH in a 35 MPH zone. PO pulled me over. He approached my car & told me that I was doing ''63 MPH back there''. I said ''really'' and told him that ''I don't think so''. He asked me if I had any points or offenses on my license. I said ''no''. He gave me a ticket for speeding anyway. I asked him if he could let it go; that my insurance rate was dropped because of my outstanding driving record out here. He said I could plead ''not guilty'' in court. I'm a resident in NJ for 9 yrs. and never received any tickets or any traffic violations whatsoever on my license. I looked at the ticket; some parts are illegible. I spoke to someone who got a speeding ticket in Monmouth County, where I live and they told me that they are merciless; that most people wind up with points on licenses out here even if they are innocent. I've been driving for over 30 yrs. Any advice you can give me would be much appreciated.
