Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey
wrong offense date and court date on a parking ticket
Hi,
Last Friday I dropped off my kids at their school at the usual spot where everyone would drop their kids off everyday previously although there is a ''No Standing or Stopping'' sign at that spot.
Although I only stopped for a minute to drop the kids off, I got a ticket with the statute No: ''39:4-138'' (Parking in prohibited area?) with a wrong offense date and court date both are in the past: 4/4/07 for offense date and 5/3/07 for court date. Both are in the past.
A lot of people got tickets on that morning for the same thing.
My question is, would the wrong dates invalidate the ticket? and can I ask for a dismissal of the ticket?
This is in Bergen county, NJ.
Thanks in advance.

No, they will amend the ticket at court. If you go to court and try to fight it, you may have to pay only court fees or the fine plus court fees.
