Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Jersey
Can a beneficiary in an estate ask to see a bill or obtain a bill with a breakdown for services and/ or the hourly rate for the accounting services (not done by a CPA) used by the executor to do the accounting for the estate? The proceeds from the sale of the house and the monies in the estate account totalled less than $275,000.00. Neither the accountant nor the executor has not been cooperative with my requests to see what the $1200.00 charged to the beneficiaries actually paid for.

You have the right to ask the Executor for an accounting and if there are questions bills need to be produced. If he refuses to comply a complaint to the Surrogate's Court may be necessary.
