Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Jersey

Credit card debt of a deceased loved one.

My friend's Mom passed away and left nothing but clothes (just regular clothes, not designer or anything).

She did have a few thousand dollars credit card debt. What is the executor's responsibility re this? A lawyer has been detained by the credit card company after they were told there is no estate.

Thanks.
