Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Jersey

Edward & Catherine Morris parented Joan their daughter.....Joan married Albert Golub 09-1955 they parented four children.....Edward died 10-1956.....Catherine remarried Albert anderson 10-1959....Catherine died 02-1986, after 27 years of marriage.....Joan decided not to pursue her portion of her mother's estate. This permitted her Step-Father to continue living in their home.....Joan Golub, died 09-2007......Albert Anderson, Step-Father, died 01-2010.....He has one living brother....Question:

Are Joan's children.....Catherine's grandchildren eligible heirs to a portion of the estate?.....Her Mother's 27 years commitment to her marriage should entitle her investment to be inherited by her grandchildren, and not solely to the Step-Father's brother.......Your response will be greatly appreciated.

Did anyone have a will? Where is the property? Was the step father ever in title(i.e. his name on the deed)? These questions and more need to be answered so a proper legal answer can be made. If you want more info you can contact me directly.
