What should an executor do with the assets if one of the heirs refuses to sign the refunding bond & release because they feel the estate owes them $2000 & no compromise can be reached?

It sounds like the heir may make a claim for that $2000.00. The executor needs a lawyer to assist. Call me to discuss, no charge for the call and no charge for the first office visit.

Your option is to go to court and file an accounting.
However, for $2,000 it will be cheaper for you to settle with the beneficiary. Even if you win in court, it will cost you much more than $2,000 to prepare the accouting and go to court.
I would suggest that you deposit the money in the probate court. Contsct sn sttorney before doing anything.
