I'm not sure I fully understand your question, however, if you are named as an executor in the Will, and you elect to renounce the appointment, the only immediate consequence to you is that you don't get to act as the executor, someone else does.
You would not be "in control" of what happens during the estate administration [which can be a big deal if you are also one of the estate beneficiaries]. You also will not recieve the executor's commission if you are not the executor [which, depending on the size of the estate, could be a lot of money].
