Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Jersey
my father passed in October 2, 2009. He was in the process of being admitted into a nursing home in New Jersey but he died while the papers were being filled out and was never officially aditted. He had just been transported from a hospital where he resided in Las Vegas, Nv. I know his will is in probabe. However, I do not know where. How do I obtain a compy of the will.

I need more information to fully answer this question. If the will is in probate, have you been notified? If so, that should tell you the jurisdiction where it is being probated. As I said, I do need more info first. Please contact my office at 732-663-1500 to discuss.

I agree that you should have been notified as a next of kin. If you know the County in which he was living in NV and the County where the nursing home is located in NJ, I suggest calling the Surrogate in each location and see if anything was filed there. Copies of what was filed is available for a nominaql fee. The call will usually inform you who is the Executor appointed and who is the attorney for the estate. Good Luck.
