Wills are not registered or recorded until they are submitted for probate after the person's death. If he had an attoney, then that attorney may have a copy or it could be among your father's personal possessions. If he did not have a will or you cannot find one, then his estate is admitted for administration and the possessions get divided amongst his heirs. If you would like to discuss this matter further, please contact my office at 732-663-1500.
Thank you.
I am sorry your Dad died. It is difficult to know whether he dealt with an Estate Planning attorney. If you do not know his attorney, I suggest you talk to his life insurance broker and accountant. They may have some information on the attorney who prepared the Will.
I hope this helps!

I agree but add the following. If Dad is deceased, a simple call to the Surrogate in the County in which he resided will tell you if a Will has been probated or an Administration proceeding has been started, and who the players are (Executor, Administrator, attorney involved, etc. You should have been notified if anyone did anything. If Dad is strill alive, while knowing his attorney might help, a Will is usually revocable during one's lifetime; meaning it can always be chaged up until death or incapacity, so you have no legal right to see it.
I am sorry you lost your dad. That loss is difficult.
